Street Cat Hub-Photography and Videography Internship

Street Cat Hub

Street Cat Hub is an Albuquerque nonprofit focused on Trap-Neuter-Return and the humane care of community cats. We would like to connect with students interested in using photography, video and digital storytelling to document our work and help educate the public.
This is an unpaid, learning-focused volunteer internship. Regular volunteer shifts are available on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Scheduling can be arranged around the student’s classes and academic requirements.
The intern may assist with:
– Photographing and recording daily activities at Street Cat Hub
– Creating short videos, photographs and other content for social media
– Editing photographs and video clips
– Developing story ideas, captions and educational posts
– Interviewing staff, volunteers, trappers and clients
– Organizing digital photographs and video files
– Documenting the intake, surgery preparation and recovery process
– Occasionally accompanying staff or volunteers to photograph or record trapping projects in the community
This would be a self-directed position. The student should be comfortable planning assignments, managing files, meeting agreed deadlines and communicating about upcoming projects. Respect for clients, staff, volunteers and the cats in our care is required. Some situations may involve sick or injured cats, so students should be comfortable working in an animal-care setting.
The placement can be structured as an internship, independent study, practicum, service-learning project or volunteer experience based on your school’s requirements. We can also work with a student who needs to complete a portfolio, documentary project, social media campaign or other academic assignment.
