NIH Medical Scientist Partnership Program
NIH MD PHD Partnership Training Program
Students interested in pursuing a career as a physician-scientist may pair the NIH OxCam Scholars PhD Program with a U.S. clinical degree program or medical school via the NIH MD/PhD Partnership Program. Since the NIH does not grant MD or PhD degrees, the program partners with U.S.-based clinical degree programs and medical schools for the student’s MD phase of training and with the NIH Graduate Partnership Programs (GPP) for the PhD phase of training. Students who are applying to clinical degree or medical school (Track 1) as well as students who plan to enroll in medical school this fall (Track 2) are eligible to apply (see schematic below).
Track 1 Pathway
Track 1 is for students who are completing the undergraduate
degree and currently applying to clinical degree programs.
Accepted students may receive 4 years of funding support towards
the clinical degree.
Track 2 Pathway
Track 2 is for students who are currently enrolled in a clinical degree
school and are applying at the start of the rst year of clinical
training. Accepted students may receive 3 years of funding support
towards the clinical degree.
