The Intern Program at Small Steps Child Counseling is seeking potential clinical interns for
2026/2027. Small Steps Child Counseling is proud to foster growth in a wide variety of clinical
modalities including Art Therapy, CBT, Infant Mental Health, DBT, Attachment/Circle of
Security, ARC Trauma-Focused Intervention, Child Parent Psychotherapy, Polyvagal Therapy,
Child Centered Play Therapy, and Parent Management Training.

Our internship program offers student interns regular support and instruction through weekly
individual and group supervision, regular consultation and collaboration with peers and
supervisors, ongoing timely trainings, and growth in reflective practice as a
clinician. Additionally, student interns will have the rare and valuable experience of learning
about billing, insurance and documentation practice, amassing clinical tools, and building a
foundation for their career through developing supportive relationships. Small Steps has on
occasion offered employment to student interns following the successful completion of their
practicum.

In exchange for this robust internship offering, we ask that student interns agree to the
following requirements:
-2nd year practicum/internship students or students with prior clinical placements/
experience preferred
-Minimum of 6 months commitment to serve clients
-Manage a caseload of 10 billable client hours per week
-Attend individual and group supervision weekly
-Attend weekly staff meeting
-Be available to schedule clients 3pm and later
-Attend 10 hours of clinical and billing training, orientation, administrative support
supervision in the first month
