Role Overview
Small Steps is seeking a New Mexico–licensed Clinical Therapist to provide individual, group, and family therapy
primarily for children and families. The therapist participates in interdisciplinary treatment planning, completes
comprehensive assessments, provides crisis intervention, and maintains a high-volume clinical caseload under
clinical supervision.

Key Responsibilities • Provide child-focused therapy using evidence-based and play-based modalities (e.g., play therapy, traumainformed care, CBT, DBT, family and attachment-based therapies). • Conduct intakes, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning with caregivers and children. • Maintain 25+ billable sessions per week (schedule at least 32 sessions weekly). • Complete all clinical documentation in the EMR within 24 hours of each session. • Reassess and update treatment plans every 3 months. • Enforce cancellation and attendance policies with families. • Attend weekly staff meetings, individual supervision, and group supervision. • Comply with ethical, legal, insurance, and mandated reporting requirements.
Caseload & Schedule • Full-time caseload built over ~60 days. • Expected ongoing workload: ~30 billable sessions per week, Monday–Friday. • No travel required.

Qualifications
Required: • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, related field, or PhD in psychology. • NM licensure or registration (LPCC, LMHC, LMFT, LCSW, LMSW). • Ability to meet documentation, ethical, and reporting standards. • Clear background check.
Preferred: • At least 1 year of experience working with children and families.
Work Environment • Active, play-based therapy setting requiring movement, floor work, and emotional regulation support for
high-needs clients. • Emphasis on reflective practice, self-care, and burnout prevention through supervision.
Supervision • Weekly individual and group supervision required. • Therapists must openly discuss cases, ethical issues, professional development, and personal well-being
with supervisors.
