The IHOP Mentorship Pod Team

Are you interested in pursuing a career in healthcare?

The IHOP Mentorship Pod offers you a unique opportunity to connect with mentors from various healthcare programs at UNM. This interactive mentorship experience allows you to explore different healthcare fields, ask questions, and gain insights into the application process, student life, and career paths. This time around we have mentors signed up and ready to answer your questions from the Pharmacy, Physician Assistant, Medical School, Nursing, and College of Population Health. We will work to recruit more mentors from other programs for the next mentor pod.

This is your chance to ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of your healthcare career options in a supportive and engaging environment.

Program Details:

  • When: January 26th from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM (1-hour session) Mountain Daylight Time.  
  • Platform: Zoom. You’ll start in a general meeting, then be placed into breakout rooms by program area for more specific discussions with mentors.
  • Commitment: Only one hour commitment for the session you sign up for. You’ll be meeting with student mentors representing the field you’re most interested in!

Session Structure:

  1. General Meeting: All participants will meet briefly as a group to hear program introductions and overview.
  2. Breakout Sessions: You’ll be assigned to a breakout room with student mentors from the field of interest you signed up to explore.
  3. Interactive Discussions: Each student mentor will share their journey, provide insights into their program, and answer questions from students.

What IHOP Mentors Can Offer:

  • General information about their healthcare program and career.
  • Insight into the application process and what to expect as a student.
  • Sharing of personal experiences and advice on navigating the healthcare field.

What IHOP Mentors CANNOT Do:

  • Edit or revise application documents for mentees.
  • Act as a referral or provide application recommendations.
  • Share personal contact details, including personal emails or phone numbers (all questions should be directed to the IHOP team at UNMIHOP@salud.unm.edu).
  • Provide one-on-one tutoring or academic assistance.
