Primary Purpose

 

Plans, develops and implements school-based and community-based prevention education and program activities designed to prevent or reduce death and injury due to DWI and underage drinking in New Mexico.

 

Essential Job Functions

 

  • Develops and implements alcohol and substance abuse prevention programs for the Santa Fe County DWI Program. Provides oversight to the alcohol and substance abuse prevention efforts of the Santa Fe County DWI Program including prevention programs including employees and contractors.
  • Conducts evaluation of alcohol and substance abuse prevention efforts to determine the effectiveness of each component. Provides technical assistance regarding alcohol and substance abuse to school and community programs (e.g., health classes, assemblies, educational classes).
  • Reviews literature and research on DWI and other drugs prevention and makes recommendations to a wide range of community leaders and organizations and the DWI Program Manager for program development and implementation.
  • Facilitates and oversees public information, media campaigns and education curriculum/classes (e.g., media outlets, information booths, rallies, marketing and advertising).
  • Recruits, trains and manages prevention contractors and/or volunteers.
  • Provides technical assistance and oversight to other DWI Program components as requested by the DWI Program Manager.
  • Works closely with Santa Fe, Pojoaque, Edgewood and other school districts to assess prevention needs and facilitate activities.
  • Completes weekly, monthly and quarterly reports as requested by DWI Program Manager. (Any one position may not perform all duties listed, nor is this inclusive of all duties performed).
