NSF REU Program
National Science Foundation, Research Experience for Undergrads
How do you stand apart from other STEM professionals when you graduate? How do you gain the experience employers and institutions are looking for? By being a part of research opportunities. This means opportunities that are outside of your regular classes. You can
participate in either opportunities offered here at Highlands, or through state and national programs.
The ARMAS Center has a CAMINOS workshop to help you apply for a paid STEM internship in the summer of 2025. The workshops are focused on the NSF REU Program (National Science Foundation, Research Experience for Undergrads). The NSF funds a large number of research opportunities around the country. Undergraduate students are granted stipends and, in many cases, assistance with travel and housing to work with faculty and other researchers. Application processes can be intimidating, and participating will help you build application skills.
PART 1 October 17th, 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm. Learn how to navigate the REU website and work with STEM faculty mentors to find projects you are interested in.
PART 2 November 21st, 5:30 pm – 7 pm. Learn how to write resumes and cover letters that are tailored to each application.
PART 3 February 2025 t.b.d. Follow up with the website opportunities and submit your applications.
