Diplomatic Security Fellowship

William D. Clarke, Sr.

We’re excited to announce that the William D. Clarke, Sr. Diplomatic Security Fellowship will begin accepting applications for the 2024 cohort in July 2023. This two-year graduate fellowship is a high-profile U.S. Department of State diversity fellowship/recruitment program that provides academic funding and leads to a career in the Foreign Service as a Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) Special Agent. We would love to get this information to your students about this unique opportunity to receive academic funding from the State Department while preparing to enter the Foreign Service as a DSS Special Agent. Would you be interested in having a 30-minute virtual info session presented for your university students and alumni? This fellowship would be a great fit for students or alumni, including college athletes, who want to pursue a master’s degree program and a career as a DSS Special Agent. Because this fellowship leads to a federal law enforcement career, individuals applying for this fellowship will be required to meet certain physical qualification standards if they are selected. Here’s more info about the Clarke DS Fellowship. Clarke DS Fellows receive: • Up to $42,000 annually (for two years) in academic funding for tuition, room and board, books/laboratory fees, and other academic expenses, and some travel expense • Two summer practicums (with stipends, housing, and travel allowances): one at a U.S. Department of State office in Washington, D.C., and one overseas at a U. S. embassy or consulate. • Personalized mentoring and professional development opportunities throughout the program. As a diversity recruitment program, the Clarke DS Fellowship, aims to attract top candidates that represent the ethnic, racial, gender, social, and geographic diversity of the United States. Women, minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service, and those with financial need, are encouraged to apply. The application for the Clarke DS Fellowship 2024 cohort will open in July and close early October 2023 (exact dates will be announced on the website soon). We’re currently scheduling virtual info sessions with universities for July, August and September. Please let me know if you are interested in having a virtual info session for your students or if you’d like to explore other ways to provide information about this fellowship opportunity.
